A New Dawn for Nyamira County: VCE's Journey to End FGM, GBV, and Empower Communities.

At Victory Child Empowerment (VCE), our mission has always been to build safer, more equitable communities where every child and family can thrive. Today, we are excited to share a new chapter in that mission as we have been selected by the International Solidarity Foundation (ISF) and the European Union in Kenya to receive a vital grant aimed at eliminating Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), while fostering economic empowerment in Nyamira County.

Why This Grant Matters

FGM and GBV continue to be major challenges affecting women and girls in many parts of Kenya, including Nyamira County. These practices not only violate human rights but also prevent individuals from achieving their full potential. At VCE, we believe that every person deserves to live a life free from violence, inequality, and economic dependence. This grant gives us the tools to expand our efforts and make a real, lasting impact.

Our Vision: Safer, Stronger, and More Empowered Communities

This initiative goes beyond just eliminating harmful practices. It's about addressing the root causes of violence and poverty and providing communities with the knowledge, resources, and opportunities to create sustainable change. With the support of ISF and the European Union, we will:

  • Raise Awareness and Educate Communities: Through community outreach, educational programs, and partnerships with local leaders, we aim to shift cultural norms that perpetuate FGM and GBV.

  • Empower Survivors and At-Risk Individuals: We will provide vital support services to survivors of FGM and GBV, including counseling, medical care, and legal assistance.

  • Foster Economic Independence: Economic empowerment is a key factor in reducing vulnerability to violence. By offering vocational training, financial literacy programs, and business development support, we aim to help individuals and families become economically self-reliant.

Our Commitment to Grassroots Change

One of the most powerful aspects of this grant is its focus on grassroots-driven solutions. We understand that the most effective and lasting change happens when communities are actively involved. That's why we are committed to working side by side with local leaders, community members, and organizations in Nyamira County to co-create solutions that reflect the unique needs and aspirations of the people we serve.

What’s Next for VCE?

Over the coming months, we will be launching a series of programs and initiatives designed to address FGM, GBV, and economic empowerment head-on. From community workshops to outreach campaigns, our goal is to mobilize the entire community around these critical issues.

We are incredibly grateful to ISF and the European Union in Kenya for believing in our vision and supporting our efforts to drive meaningful, lasting change. This grant is a major step forward in our journey to build stronger, safer, and more empowered communities in Nyamira County and beyond.
